MINSK, 10 March (BelTA) - Over 60 companies and institutions from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Germany will take part in the second international exhibition and conference AtomExpo Belarus 2010. The exhibition will open in the BelExpo center in Minsk on 10 March, the press service of the Energy Ministry told BelTA.

The forum is organized by the Energy Ministry that will display its exposition as well.

MINSK, 10 March (BelTA) – Belarus continues negotiations on a Russian loan for building a nuclear power plant, Deputy Energy Minister of Belarus Yuri Rymashevsky told media at the opening of the AtomExpo Belarus 2010 on 10 March.

Belarus does count on getting the Russian loan for this project, said Yuri Rymashevsky.

In his words, the negotiations are in their active phase and things are being discussed.

MINSK, 9 March (BelTA) – A SKIF K-500 supercomputer is now online at the United Energy and Nuclear Research Institute Sosny of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus to provide scientific support for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Belarus.

According to Anatoly Krishtofik, Executive Director of the Union State program SKIF-GRID, employee of the NASB United Information Technology Institute, at present the computer runs in a test mode.

MINSK, 9 March (BelTA) – Lithuania hopes to reach an understanding with Belarus over the construction of a nuclear power plant in Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania to Belarus Edminas Bagdonas told a press conference commenting on the public hearings on the environmental impact assessment (EIA) of the future Belarusian nuclear power plant held in Vilnius on 2 March.

MINSK, 5 March (BelTA) – Over 50 companies and institutions from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Czechia, and Germany will take part in the second international expo and conference AtomExpo Belarus. The expo will take place in the national expo center BelExpo in Minsk on 10-12 March, the organizers told BelTA.

AtomExpo Belarus will feature the latest technologies used to design, build, operate and secure nuclear power plants.

MINSK, 3 March (BelTA) – The Lithuanian comments and proposals will be taken into account when the report on environmental impact assessment (EIA) of the Belarusian nuclear power plant (NPP) is finalized, the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA while commenting on the public hearings held in Lithuania on 2 March.

The hearings on the environmental impact assessment of the Belarusian NPP took place in Vilnius State University.

Vilnius, 3 March (BelTA) – The future Belarusian nuclear power plant will not have a negative effect on the environmental situation; it will have virtually no impact on the territory of the Republic of Lithuania, deputy director of Belnipienergoprom Vladimir Bobrov said during the public hearings on the environmental impact assessment of the future Belarus’ NPP in Vilnius.

The Ostrovetskaya site has been chosen as the priority one following the physical and geological research.

MINSK, 25 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Russian program on cooperation in the fuel and energy area will be adopted in the next two months, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Belarus Alexander Surikov told reporters in Minsk on 25 February, BelTA has learnt. 

The document is being finalized now, the Ambassador noted. 

At the same time, Alexander Surikov is not sure that the program will be adopted during the forthcoming session of the Council of Ministers of the Belarus-Russia Union State.

MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian Energy Ministry plans to sign contracts worth $2.5 billion with Chinese partners, Deputy Energy Minister Mikhail Mikhadyuk told a session of the Energy Ministry board on 24 February.

“As instructed by the government, this year we should sign contracts worth $2.5 billion with China and attract at least $500 million in Chinese loans in line with the signed contracts.

MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – The Energy Ministry of Belarus plans to raise $650 million in foreign loans in 2010, Deputy Energy Minister of Belarus Mikhail Mikhadiuk said at a session of the ministry.

The role of loans in financing the investment projects in the energy industry of Belarus has increased, Mikhail Mikhadiuk said. “Loans account for 31% of the sources of financing we use to fund investment programs in the Energy Ministry and more than 40% in the Belenergo system,” he said.
